Company description and purpose of company argovia philharmonic

The Swiss orchestra, founded in 1963 as the “Aargau Symphony Orchestra”, has long since grown into a nationally established professional orchestra. Acting as argovia philharmonic since the 2013/14 season, the orchestra not only shapes its own home country musically with a broad repertoire. In addition to its own concert series, the argovia philharmonic also makes regular guest appearances abroad, including at the Tonhalle Zurich. It is also the house orchestra for the “Hallwyl Castle Opera”, which takes place every three years. Thanks to its unique structure, the argovia philharmonic has earned its own place in the Swiss orchestral landscape. The argovia philharmonic stands out from the regular professional orchestras through its project-related work with a permanent cast. In terms of its structure, it represents the Swiss orchestral landscape like no other orchestra, which is characterized by a large number of freelance orchestral musicians and project-oriented work. The argovia philharmonic performs regularly with internationally known soloists such as Vadim Repin, Olga Scheps, Stella Doufexis, Sol Gabetta, Raphael Oleg, Andreas Staier and Bernd Glemser, but also with the most important Swiss artists such as Oliver Schnyder, Patrick Demenga and Christian Poltéra. It also invites up-and-coming soloists such as Alexander Sitkovetsky, Jinsang Lee, Sofia Jaffé, Sergey Koudriakov, Christina Daletska and Valentin Johannes Gloor. The British conductor Douglas Bostock has led the orchestra as chief conductor since 2001. Thanks to this fruitful collaboration and the resulting high artistic quality, the argovia philharmonic has successfully established itself in the Swiss musical landscape. To mark the orchestra's fiftieth anniversary, Musiques Suisses released a CD with works by the Aargau composers Hermann Suter and Werner Wehrli, which was widely praised in the national and international press. The argovia philharmonic has been working with the Coviello Classic label since 2013.
