Company description and purpose of company Gemeinde Bözberg

The four Bözberg communities Gallenkirch, Linn, Ober- and Unterbözberg merged on January 1st, 2013 to form the Bözberg community. In 1872 the municipality of Bözberg was divided into two municipalities by resolution of the Grand Council, in Unter- and Oberbözberg. 136 years later, voters decided in November 2008 to deeply examine and prepare a merger of the four communities Gallenkirch, Linn Unter- and Oberbözberg. In March 2012, the residents of the communities Gallenkirch, Linn, Unter- and Oberbözberg voted on the merger of the four communities. What unites the four communities is above all the Bözberg, a beautiful landscape and an important pass in Switzerland for centuries. “Put together what belongs together.” As of January 1st, 2013, the communities Gallenkirch, Linn, Unter- and Oberbözberg will merge to form the diverse community Bözberg. The community Bözberg is the most attractive residential community in rural surroundings. Their conclusion is: “Bözberg - there where things are going up.” Through the merger of Bözberg, the various historical acts have merged with one another. The church in the valley of Kirchbözberg, consecrated to St. Michael, bears witness to important Bözberg crossings and sights. The landmark of Bözberg, more precisely of Linn, is undoubtedly the mighty linden tree. Numerous visitors come from near and far to marvel at the venerable tree, to test its supposed healing powers or to enjoy the wonderful view of the valley. The age of the linden tree is estimated to be between 500 and 800 years. The linden tree was consecrated by the Teutons to Freya, the goddess of love and protection. The linden tree is said to arouse true emotions. The Linner Linde is the starting point for numerous hikes in the beautiful landscape of the Bözberg. Where the paths from Gallenkirch and Linn meet, the two streams also flow together, to the Sagimülibach. The mill that was operated with his power has long since disappeared, but the Sagimülitäli with its natural beauties has been preserved and offers a wonderful view of the waterfall. The Bözberg landscape not only offers green meadows and fields but also an unforgettable and enchanting view of the Alps. In the past few years the well-known historian, Mr. Max Baumann, has worked out a regional history with the title “Life on the Bözberg”. The work comprises 706 pages and describes the life of the people who have lived on the Bözberg for almost a thousand years. The book, illustrated with drawings and pictures by the Aargau painter Kurt Hediger, can be obtained from the Bözberg municipal office for CHF 59.00 (including postage CHF 11.00).
