Gemeinde Berg am Irchel

Company description and purpose of company Gemeinde Berg am Irchel

The place name "mountain" denotes nothing other than the shape of the terrain, that is, a hill. It appears for the first time in a document from 1096 as "berga". The name of the elongated ridge between the lower Töss and Thur valleys, in 1259 as «mons« Grassilo », is the name of the Alemannic clan leader who set up his clearing settlement in what is now the district of Gräslikon, because the« Grassilincon »mentioned in 1254 is called« at the grass silo farms ».
