Company description and purpose of company Victorinox Factory Store

In 1884 Karl Elsener opened his cutlery in Ibach-Schwyz. That was at the time when Switzerland was still one of the poorer countries in Europe. In the early years Karl Elsener fought against poverty and unemployment in the Schwyz valley basin. He created jobs and was able to counteract migration abroad. In 1891 he was able to deliver the soldier's knife to the Swiss Army for the first time. In 1897 he developed the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife - the Swiss Army Knife known today - and thereby laid the foundation for a flourishing company that was to assert itself around the world. His idea of solidarity, his ties to his homeland and his firm will to solid values shaped the business philosophy of Victorinox from then on. Today Victorinox is a global company with six product categories: pocket knives, kitchen knives, watches, luggage, clothing and perfumes. The Swiss Army Knife is a core product and is pioneering in the development of all product categories.
