The nicest and most centrally located club is in the Corsohaus between Bellevue and the Opera House. Daily changing music events, concerts, cultural events, parties, clubbing. Today's Mascotte is one of the oldest "clubs" in Switzerland and is therefore closely linked to the history of the famous Corso House and thus also to the cultural history of Zurich. The Corso House at Bellevue was built at the turn of the century, the Variété opened in April 1900 in a central location. Initially intended as a meeting point and clubhouse for associations and guilds, the first films were soon shown alongside theater and all kinds of cabaret. As early as 1916, a small adjoining room of the theater was called "Palais Mascotte". In the twenties and thirties, the most famous artists from Europe and overseas performed in the Corso, under names like Josephine Baker or the young Louis Armstrong. The interior was completely rebuilt in 1934. At that time, the Mascotte was still presented as a Viennese café, without the upper floor in a very generous Art Deco garment, with elegant zebra design armchairs, fine parquet, the famous mural by Max Ernst (can be admired today in the Kunsthaus) and in extremely plain white . Max Bill designed the Corso lettering on the roof, which still exists today. The fifties and sixties were a time of big band dance music and live concerts, followed by the first Swiss Go Go Girls. After a renovation, it was acquired by the city in 1970 and placed under protection. Samy Davis Jr., Hazy Osterwald and Pepe Lienhard appeared in the «Mascotte» - the latter took over the bar in 1977 together with Udo Jürgens and Freddy Burger at a time when the first disco's were emerging. At the beginning of the eighties, her “Mascotte” with the first laser light in Switzerland, followed by the “Roxy” that followed later, was the undisputed most popular disco in town. Even then, stars and starlets from the national and international show scene were always visited ... like Mötley Crue or Falco. Unfortunately, it was no longer possible to keep up with the ever-growing competition and disappeared in the mediocre range. In 1995 the opening of the “Café Grössenwahn” club led to good figures for a short time, but unfortunately also to the temporary end of the glamorous era. In 1997 the lavishly furnished Club Paradise by Coiffeur Valentino opened. Just one year later, the restaurant became the «Mascotte» again - now a faceless club that has been forgotten in Zurich's bustling nightlife. Since February 2004, under the new management of young club and restaurant entrepreneurs, after successfully completing the renovation, the company is back on track. With a wide-ranging club and music program, international and national live concerts & DJS, show cases, readings and other cultural events, you will again appeal to an interested, urban audience and will undoubtedly reconnect with the former success and glamor of the historic house at.
