The Heimisbach valley, which was called "Dürrgraben" until 1967, belongs to the community of Trachselwald. On January 1st, 1968 it was given its current name on the 100th birthday of the dialect poet Simon Gfeller, whose first work from 1910 was called "Heimisbach". The new Baroque church in Trachselwald was built in 1685 according to plans by Abraham Dünz. The oldest parts of the castle date from the 2nd half of the 12th century; today it is the seat of the governor of the Trachselwald office. The Swiss Zither Culture Center, which has existed since February 1999 and was initially located in Konolfingen, has been located in the premises of the former administrative department, built in 1614, since March 2003. In the old schoolhouse in Thal in Heimisbach, where Simon Gfeller went to school from 1875 to 1884, there has been a memorial room for him since 1970.
