The village of Dürrenroth lies on a terrace above the Rotbach valley. The municipality extends over the two flanks that border this valley, north up to the mountain ranges of the Chabisberg and Chaltenegg, south to the Oberwald, a wooded foothill of the Napf. In terms of its character, Dürrenroth has remained a typical farming community even though various businesses and smaller factories have established themselves in the village. The townscape of Dürrenroth is classified as of national importance. It is characterized by a juxtaposition of modest commercial and Tauner houses as well as stately large farms. The village square in front of the church is framed by particularly beautiful buildings and evidence of the earlier building culture. Today's post office, to the left of the church, was Dürrenroth's first schoolhouse and dates from the end of the 18th century. The church itself, in a dominant position on the edge of the slope, dates from 1486 and has a remarkable bell that is dated 1392. The late baroque inns "Bären" from 1800 and the "Kreuz" from 1806 together with the stylish Kreuzstock - all professionally restored and renewed in recent years - complete the picture of an intact village center.
