Company description and purpose of company Theatergruppe Langnau

It began over 30 years ago with plays for club events and Chränzli, always with the club's own direction. The first association regulations were drawn up in 1974. In 1991 the "hard core" of the group founded the association "Theatergruppe Langnau". The 1999 production "vo women and men", scenes freely based on Loriot, was directed for the first time by a professional theater woman. With Vilma Hotz-Jordans we faced a new challenge. For the 2002 production, we found a new, exciting location for our performances in the greenhouse of the Bacher garden center (old location). We will probably never forget the "mini comedies" by Pierre Henri Cami (1884-1958), staged by Rupert Dubsky. On January 20, 2002, after only six performances, the greenhouse burned down completely shortly after the performance. Thanks to the generous support and solidarity of the Langnau community, the Langnau village associations and our theater friends, we didn't have to give up our beautiful hobby. We found a new and very ideal venue in the turbine theater on the Sihl. The success of the remaining performances of Cami's mini comedies in the turbine theater gave us the courage to continue. It is important to us not only to entertain, but also to stimulate the audience to discuss and think. We would also like to give the young people the opportunity to try out "the boards that mean the world" and to gain experience.
