My collages are an interplay of carefully selected fragments, consistently harmonious backdrops and a multi-layered imagination. At first glance, the images consist of components that seem to have entered into an arbitrary connection. On closer inspection, however, it becomes clear that every detail has been carefully selected to achieve a perfect composition. Balance in color and shape is just as important to me as an affinity for the abstract and surrealistic. Although I create coherent backgrounds with acrylic paints, the individually assembled pieces of paper are the main actors in my works. So it is hardly surprising that in my studio hundreds of pieces of paper, sorted by color, are kept in drawers. All of them carefully torn from print products in order to bring them back to life in the next picture. When choosing the snippets, I'm interested in the object, the shape, the texture. Colored patterns, for example, are particularly suitable for shaping, whereby easily recognizable elements such as eyes or hands are also important components of my work. The scissors, which are usually the main tools for collage artists, stay with me in the drawer. For me, fragments torn out by hand are more fascinating because the resulting organic shapes and uneven contours create a slightly blurred tension on the canvas. The basis of every collage is to use elements and components of what already exists to create something new. The subject of my work is driven by my everyday life, my esprit and my tendency to be eccentric.
