Before the war years of World War II, Rümlang was a small farming village with very few businesses and retailers. The Rümlang tradespeople also wanted to benefit from the economic boom after the war. This then moved a couple of far-sighted traders to found a trade association in 1946. Starting inventory: 24 members. By 1966 the membership increased to 69 companies. In 1990 the 100th member of the GVR was welcomed. The association has had 14 presidents since it was founded. In September 1996 a large village festival took place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Rümlang trade association. Today the association has around 130 members. The association is a member of the Cantonal Trade Association (KGV) and the District Trade Association Dielsdorf (BGV).
